A visionary economist trained at Yale University, S. Swaminathan brought a rare blend of intellect, insight, and leadership to IRIS. He served as a Consultant to the World Bank, held leadership roles in media, and was deeply committed to transparency, good governance, and the global adoption of XBRL as a standard for high-quality data.
Beyond business, Swaminathan was engaged in world politics and policymaking and played a key role in organizing World Cup cricket tournaments. He also held several influential positions, including with the Consultative Committee on XBRL, Ministry of Corporate Affairs (Government of India), and the IT Sub-Committee of CII, Western Region.
His ideas and ideals continue to guide IRIS and inspire all who knew him.
Balu leads the development of new use cases for structured and unstructured data and is closely associated with the DCP business line. Before founding IRIS, Balu worked with CRISIL and Tata Economic Consultancy Services. Balu has represented IRIS at various forums, including the IFRS Taxonomy Consulting Group of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the XBRL sub-committee of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. He holds a graduate degree in chemical engineering and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
Deepta has over 22 years of experience and is responsible for building and managing IRIS operations and heading the HR team. She played a key role in managing large client engagements during the growth phase of the Company’s structured data story, leading to the development of Carbon as a product, which she now sponsors. Deepta is a Chemical Engineer from IIT Delhi and an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and enjoys singing, reading, and cooking on weekends. She was profiled in the bestseller ‘Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish’ and was named one of Navi Mumbai’s Power Women of 2015.
P K X Thomas is an accomplished technocrat with over 30 years of deep understanding in eBusiness, specializing in product, technology, and operations. He has worked with growing organizations such as Hopscotch, Reliance Industries Ltd, and Cleartrip. He has also institutionalized a technology and process-driven culture and has key accomplishments and recognitions in his field. Thomas has worked with Reliance Brands Limited, Mumbai, as a Sr. Vice President & Chief Technology Officer and has been responsible for the development and operations of India mono-brand sites and Hamleys UK, among other achievements.
